Terms Of Use

DVLA Search application programming interfaces (the “DVLA Search APIs”) allow you to connect to DVLA Search systems to retrieve and use content generated by DVLA Search (“Content”) from within your application and/or website (“App”). Your use of the DVLA Search APIs to access DVLA Search systems is subject to these Terms of Use.

1. CC0.

To the extent possible under law, DVLA Search, Ltd. has waived all copyright and related or neighbouring rights to the declarative code that is necessary for function calls to the DVLA Search APIs as well as the structure, sequence and organization of the DVLA Search APIs. For clarity, this CC0 disclaimer does not apply to any software or code that has not been released or made public in source code form by DVLA Search via the API docs. 2. Restrictions and Requirements

By using the DVLA Search APIs to interact with the DVLA Search systems, you agree to:

Provide true and accurate information about yourself and your App when requested by DVLA Search.
Inform users about how your App copies, caches, stores or retains any Content or data, and refresh any stored or cached Content or data at a reasonable interval.
And agree not to:

Place excessive API calls to DVLA Search systems or otherwise overburden DVLA Search systems, as determined by DVLA Search in its sole discretion.
Share or misuse your API token.
Modify, decompile, reverse engineer or otherwise alter or seek to derive the trade secrets and other inherent intellectual property of the DVLA Search APIs.
Use the DVLA Search APIs (i) to create or enable any App, website, tool, or other mechanism that is, or enables, or operates in conjunction with, any malware, spyware, adware, other malicious programs or code, or (ii) in any manner that would violate any applicable law or governmental regulation.

3. Accuracy of data

DVLA Search shall take all reasonable steps to ensure that the data is accurate and up to date before it is transmitted. DVLA Search cannot provide guarantees, conditions or warranties as to the accuracy of the data provided. The DVLA does not accept any liability for any inaccurate information supplied.

4. Continuity of service

Where possible, DVLA Search will use reasonable endeavours to ensure that there is no break in the continuity of service and will only make changes when required. Outages may be required on occasions where essential upgrades to the service need to be implemented.

5. Disclaimer

DVLA Search does not accept liability for loss or damage incurred by users of the API services, whether direct, indirect or consequential, whether caused by tort, breach of contract or otherwise, in connection with our API services, its use, the inability to use, or results of the use of our service, any websites linked to it and any materials posted on it.

This includes loss of:

  • income or revenue
  • business
  • profits or contracts
  • anticipated savingsv
  • data
  • goodwill
  • tangible property
  • wasted management or office time
  • 6. Termination, Suspension, and Modification.

    As a condition to the access to DVLA Search systems that are granted to you, you acknowledge and agree that DVLA Search reserves the right to change all or any part of these Terms of Use, to suspend, limit or disable access to DVLA Search systems, data or content accessible through DVLA Search APIs, and/or to terminate these Terms of Use, in each case at any time with or without cause and without liability to you.

    Your rights to use DVLA Search APIs to access the DVLA Search systems will automatically terminate upon (i) your violation of any provision of these Terms of Use; (ii) DVLA Search notice of termination; or (iii) DVLA Search selection to disable your use of DVLA Search APIs via the DVLA Search system. DVLA Search may modify these terms at its discretion. Any notice of changed terms or of termination will be provided by any means including, without limitation, posting on dvlasearch.co.uk, or other DVLA Search service, by electronic mail, or by any other communication. If you disagree with any modifications to these Terms and Conditions, your sole recourse is to stop using DVLA Search APIs to access the DVLA Search systems and your continued use of DVLA Search APIs to access the DVLA Search systems following notice of such modifications constitutes your agreement to such modifications.
